WWW Wednesday – 15 February 2023

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, where bloggers share the books that they’ve recently finished, what they are currently reading and what books they are planning to read next. Essentially you have to answer three questions (the Three Ws):

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

So, let’s get to it.

What are you currently reading?

I Will Find You by Harlan Coben (Trade Paperback)

I Will Find You Cover

I am currently reading the epic new thriller novel from bestselling author Harlan Coben, I Will Find You.  An intriguing read that sees a man convicted for murdering his young son break out of jail when he sees proof that his child is still alive, I Will Find You is proving to be an extremely addictive novel for me and I am having an outstanding time with it.  I am currently about a third of the way through at the moment and I will hopefully knock this book off completely in the next day or so.  I have a feeling this is going to be one of the better thriller novels of 2023 and I cannot wait to see how the entire elaborate mystery unfolds.

Warhammer 40,000: The Vorbis Conspiracy (Audiobook)

The Vorbis Conspiracy Cover

I am also currently listening to the epic Warhammer 40,000 audiobook, The Vorbis Conspiracy, which sits within the Warhammer Crime sub-series.  This particular entry is an anthology book that brings together several amazing authors, each of them contributing their own Warhammer Crime short story.  However, each of the stories are related to a devastating spaceship crash that destroyed an entire district of a massive city, and they all connect together to reveal a complex and unique conspiracy.  I am just over halfway through this audiobook at the moment and only have a few stories left to read within it.  However, so far I have been deeply impressed with the incredible range of intriguing stories each of these talented authors have come up with and I look forward to seeing how they manage to bring everything together.

The Death of John Lacey by Ben Hobson (Trade Paperback)

The Death of John Lacey Cover

I just started this intriguing Australian western from excellent author Ben Hobson.  Following several distinctive characters during the height of Australia’s goldrush era, The Death of John Lacey is already proving to be quite an awesome read and I am hoping to finish it off in the next few days.

Warhammer 40,000: Bloodlines by Chris Wraight (Audiobook)

Warhammer 40,000 - Bloodlines Cover

Yeah, so I needed another fix of Warhammer Crime and the remaining major novel left to me is Bloodlines by Chris Wraight.  Featuring a dark missing persons case in the despair filled city of Varangantua, Bloodlines is another outstanding addition to the fantastic Warhammer 40,000 canon and I am having an epic time listening to this audiobook.  I will hopefully get through this by the end of the week and I will love every second of it.

I Say Your Name in the Dark Nights by Jonathan Maberry (Audiobook)

I Say Your Name in the Dark Nights Cover

Before I read Jonathan Maberry’s next epic novel, Son of the Poison Rose, I chose to quickly listen to his associated short story, I Say Your Name in the Dark Nights.  A cool companion story to his 2022 release, Kagen the Damned, this tale was a dark and entertaining tale loaded with werewolves and other freaky occurrences.  I had a fun time with this short story and I am planning to listen to Son of the Poison Rose very soon.

Downfall by Louise Carey (Trade Paperback)

Downfall Cover

I have just started reading the amazing science fiction thriller, Downfall by Louise Carey.  The third and final book in Carey’s debut Inscape series, Downfall follows on from the fantastic books Inscape and Outcast and follows a small group of cyperpunk rebels as they attempt to save an entire city from the malign control of an evil corporation.  I have made a descent amount of progress on Downfall so far and it is proving to be an excellent and exciting read that perfectly follows on from Outcast’s great cliffhanger ending.  I am very excited to see how this entire trilogy ends and it should end up being an exceptional overall book

Warhammer 40,000: Hereticus by Dan Abnett (Audiobook)

Warhammer 40,000 - Hereticus Cover

After how epic the first two books in Dan Abnett’s incredible and iconic Eisenhorn trilogy turned out, there was no way I could leave this series unfinished, so I just started listening to the third and final book Hereticus.  An intriguing and powerful conclusion to the complex stories told in Xenos and Malleus, Hereticus shows Inquisitor Eisenhorn’s next major adventure, one that will tip him over the edge and make him the very thing that he has sworn to fight.  I have made a fair bit of progress on this book so far, and I am absolutely loving it, especially after that intense and heartbreaking opening sequence.  I have no doubt that the rest of Hereticus is going to be outstanding and I look forward to seeing just how far the protagonist falls.
