Hollow Empire by Sam Hawke (Trade Paperback)

I was extremely glad when I got my copy of Hollow Empire the other day as I have been looking forward to reading this book for some time. I was a major fan of Hawke’s debut novel, City of Lies, and Hollow Empire continues the great story started in the previous book. I have made a great deal of progress on this book and I am having an amazing time reading it, especially as Hawke has come up with an elaborate and compelling conspiracy storyline. This is an epic novel and I am hoping to finish it off in the next day or so.

Star Trek: More Beautiful than Death by David Mack (Audiobook)

I was in the mood for a good tie-in novel so I thought I would check out another of 2020’s Star Trek novels, More Beautiful than Death. This is the second Star Trek novel set in the Kelvin timeline (the timeline used in the recent series of films) following on from The Unsettling Stars released earlier this year. I have only listened to an hour or so of this book at the moment, but it looks set to be an exciting and compelling novel.

Ink by Jonathan Maberry (Audiobook)

This is the latest novel from one of my favourite authors at the moment, Jonathan Maberry. Ink is a standalone novel set in Maberry’s fictional town of Pine Deep and features a horror based storyline where people’s tattoos, and the memories associated with them, are stolen by a mysterious man. I am about halfway through this unique book at the moment and I am really enjoying its compelling story and intense characters. A very interesting read and one I am glad I decided to try out.

Firefly: Generations by Tim Lebbon (Hardcover)

Firefly Generations

After waiting a year for this book to come out, I finally get the chance to check out the latest Firefly tie-in novel, Firefly: Generations by Tim Lebbon. Generations see’s the crew of Serenity follow a mysterious map to an ancient generation ship in the hope of gaining plunder. However, something dangerous lies in wait for them, something that absolutely terrifies their resident psychic River. I have been really enjoying the new Firefly tie-in books over the last couple of years (make sure to check out my reviews for the previous books, Big Damn Hero, The Magnificent Nine and The Ghost Machine) and so far Generations is living up to the rest of the series. I am really enjoying this book and should hopefully finish it off in the next couple of days.

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman (Audiobook)

I started listening to The Thursday Murder Club earlier this week and I am currently about halfway through it. The Thursday Murder Club is the debut novel from British comedian and television personality Richard Osman and follows a group of retired crime enthusiasts as they attempt to solve a brutal murder at their retirement village. This is a very clever and extremely funny novel and I am having a wonderful time listening to it.

The Tower of Fools by Andrzej Sapkowski (Trade Paperback)

From the mind of Andrzej Sapkowski, best-selling author of The Witcher novels, comes the first English translation of his 2002 release, The Tower of Fools. This is an interesting novel that blends together Eastern European historical fiction with some curious fantasy elements. I am about 100 pages in at the moment and so far it is quite an intriguing read. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

The Salvage Crew by Yudhanjaya Wijeratne (Audiobook)

The Salvage Crew is a fantastic science fiction adventure novel that I decided to quickly check out this week, mainly because it was narrated by Nathan Fillion. The book follows a small salvage crew (bet you didn’t get that from the title) who head to an alien planet to do a routine salvage of a crashed ship, right before things get really complicated for them. I am making some good progress with this audiobook and should hopefully finish it off in a day or two. So far it is a pretty awesome story and I am really enjoying it.

Star Trek: Discovery: Die Standing by John Jackson Miller (Audiobook)

I was in the mood for a good tie-in novel so I thought I would check out this intriguing Star Trek: Discovery novel. Die Standing is an extremely fun and well-written novel that follows a dark protagonist on a dangerous and unique espionage mission. This is one of the best Star Trek novels of 2020 and I am really enjoying listening to it. I have made some good progress on this book and should finish it off in the next couple of days.

The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett (Hardcover)

I just finished reading this book a little while ago and boy was it a good read. I’m hoping to get a review for this book up soon but it is really worth checking out.

The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett (Hardcover)

The Evening and the Morning Cover

I only just started reading the latest epic piece of historical fiction from bestselling author Ken Follett a couple of hours ago but I am already 100 pages into it and I only stopped so I could put this post up. The Evening and the Morning is an impressive and well-written novel that serves as a prequel to Follett’s iconic The Pillars of the Earth. I am deeply enjoying this excellent novel and I don’t think it is going to take me too long to get through all 800+ pages.

Assault by Fire by Lt. Col. H. Ripley Rawlings IV. USMC (Audiobook)

I finally got around to listening to Assault by Fire, the action packed solo debut novel from H. Ripley Rawlings IV, who previously cowrote last year’s awesome action thriller, Red Metal. This is an exciting and fast-paced military thriller that is set around a Russian invasion of the United States. I have made substantial progress on this book and should finish it off in the next day or so.

Map’s Edge is a fun and intriguing fantasy novel that sees a group of adventurers head out into the dangerous wilds to claim a great treasure. This is an awesome fantasy adventure and so far I am really enjoying it. I have made a decent amount of progress with this book so far and I am hoping to finish it off in the next few days.

Battle Ground by Jim Butcher

I started listening to the latest entry in The Dresden Files yesterday and boy am I glad that I decided to check it out. Battle Ground is an impressive novel that sees series protagonist Harry Dresden attempt to save the city of Chicago from a massive and destructive supernatural invasion. This is an epic and awesome novel and I cannot wait to see how it turns out.

S. G. MacLean finishes off her Damien Seeker historical thriller series with The House of Lamentations, another fantastic and compelling entry in the series. I have been really enjoying this great series over the last couple of years (check out my reviews for Destroying Angel and The Bear Pit) and this final book is so far really good. I have made a decent amount of progress on this novel and I am hoping to finish it off tomorrow.

Total Power by Kyle Mills (based on the series by Vince Flynn) (Audiobook)

Total Power is the latest novel in the bestselling Mitch Rapp series (check out my prior reviews for Red War and Lethal Agent), which is currently being written by Kyle Mills. This latest novel is another exciting spy thriller which focuses on a plot to destroy America’s power grid. I just started this one today and I am really enjoying it.

Dead Man in a Ditch by Luke Arnold (Trade Paperback)

Dead Man in a Ditch Cover

I ended up going on a bit of an Australian fiction binge this week and as part of that I started reading Dead Man in a Ditch, the new novel from Australian actor/author Luke Arnold. Dead Man in a Ditch is the sequel to Arnold’s debut from earlier this year, The Last Smile in Sunder City. I am 100 pages in at this point and so far it is proving to be another excellent read.

The Trouble With Peace by Joe Abercrombie

The Trouble with Peace Cover

I am still going with this audiobook at the moment, but I am hoping to have it finished off by next week. This is a really good book though, and I am having an incredible time listening to it.
