We have just hit the final month of 2019, and as I have already received a couple of books that are set to be released in 2020, I though it would be a good time to look at some of the recent books I have been sent. I have actually recently gotten an interesting collection of books from across the genres, all of which sound like really good reads, and I am looking forward to checking them out.
Where Fortune Lies by Mary-Anne O’Connor
A new Australian historical drama from the amazing Mary-Anne O’Connor. I reviewed her 2019 release, In a Great Southern Land, earlier this year and really enjoyed it, so I have high hopes for this book. I am also very happy that they used an excerpt from my review of In a Great Southern Land on the back cover, which you can check out below:
The Light at the Bottom of the World by London Shah
This is an intriguing sounding young adult science fiction novel set in a flooded future Earth where the protagonists has to enter a dangerous submarine race to save her father. This looks like a lot of fun and I have actually already started to read it.
Just Watch Me by Jeff Lindsay
Just Watch Me is an exciting sounding heist thriller from the author of popular Dexter novels. I am really looking forward to checking this one out and I think that I am really going to enjoy it.
The Drover’s Wife by Leah Purcell
Another great sounding piece of Australian historical fiction, this one should be a good one to read.
Otherlife by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller
The final book in the Last Reality series by the team of Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller. I have quite enjoyed the previous books in this young adult series, Otherworld and Otherearth, and I am quite curious to see how this final book ends the story. Also, I have to say that the cover for this latest book is very impressive and I really like it.
Deep State by Chris Hauty
The final book is a compelling sounding thriller that deals with conspiracy theories and paranoia in Washington. Essentially following a plot by the theorised Deep State to take down a divisive United States President, this book is sure to be an interesting and perhaps even a little controversial.
That’s the end of this latest book haul post. Make sure to stay tuned for my reviews about these fantastic books.
